Warning I'm about to go Gym Jenny on you, but it's because I love you. Okay, real quick. You might be thinking wait, who's Gym Jenny? Gym Jenny is the Jenny I become when I work out and I have my earbuds in, I'm listening to personal development. I'm getting fired up. I'm telling you what there is something about moving my body, working out, firing up my mind, body and spirit all at the same time. I'm telling you that's when the best ideas flow.
Jenny Peterson:This episode was actually inspired by a comment that I saw inside my you Affiliate Only Facebook group. It actually was inspired by one word. My company is currently doing the best in sign-up. Like I have never been this excited about an incentive in my entire life. It's called the LV Challenge. Lv stands for three things Live video, lv, las Vegas LV and you guessed it Louis Vuitton. The challenge is to do 20 you Lives over the next 36 days. That's it. Go live 20 times in 36 days and you're entered to win. Get this, two affiliates are going to win a trip to Las Vegas with me to go have a shopping spree at Louis Vuitton. I'm so excited, I cannot wait. And what I love about this challenge is it's not based on who can sell the most. It's based on effort, it's based on action, it's based on going live. So everybody's on an even playing field.
Jenny Peterson:By the way, this challenge is happening right now. So, if you're listening, you're like uh, I've been thinking about becoming a you Affiliate. I'm in, I want to try to win a trip to Las Vegas and a shopping spree with Jenny at Louis Vuitton. Then go apply now, because there's still time. If you started today to start this challenge, to be included in the challenge. But time is running out. We are currently accepting new affiliates that have a minimum of 5,000 followers. So if that's you, go to bitly forward, slash you affiliate. I'm going to spell it out for you. I'll also put it in the show notes. Okay, so the bit is bitly forward. Slash why you affiliate and you can apply to become an affiliate today.
Jenny Peterson:Back to the comment that inspired this entire episode. So we're doing this live video challenge and we have a daily check in who went live today. Let's keep each other accountable, right? And the comment that stuck out to me was this one I'm so nervous. I've been sick for two weeks. I have no voice to work with, but it's getting better. I hope to try to post a live later on today and if it's a short video, I will try to get started so I can be confident in doing my lives.
Jenny Peterson:The single word in this comment that I just I can't, I cannot. I have a personally eliminated it from my vocabulary. Can you guess what it is? Try? Oh, I hate the word try. So here I am. I'm walking on the treadmill, that's right, I walk, I don't run. The only time I would run is if there was a bear chasing me. So I'm on the treadmill, I'm walking, I'm starting to get fired up. I read this comment Girlfriend, bless her heart, said try twice. So I write up a post and I post this inside my affiliate only Facebook group and I'm going to read to you what I posted Eliminate the word try from your vocabulary.
Jenny Peterson:In here we don't try to do something, we just do it.
Jenny Peterson:The word try is not allowed in this group anymore.
Jenny Peterson:Deal, do or do not.
Jenny Peterson:There is no try.
Jenny Peterson:Stop using weak language.
Jenny Peterson:It is not serving you.
Jenny Peterson:Stop telling yourself and others I will try.
Jenny Peterson:Remove try from that sentence and read it again. I will try. Now becomes I will feel how powerful that is. Our words have power. Our words matter. How we talk to our self matters. Try is a lie, that's right. Try is a lie we tell ourselves in advance. It makes us feel better if we don't do what we intended to do, because if you don't do what you said you were going to do, you can then say well, at least I tried. The word try is disempowering. Stop using it. Stop lying to yourself. Show up for your dang self. Do it. Do it scared if you must, but do the dang thing. Think about it. When someone else tells us that they're going to do something and then they don't, how do you feel about that person? Do you trust that person? Will you trust that person the next time they tell you that they are going to do something? No, when we say the word try or we don't do what we say we're going to do, guess what? We lose trust with ourselves. Trust is earned, not given. We earn our own trust when we do what we say we are going to do.
Jenny Peterson:The word try is a non-committal word. There's no commitment behind the word try. Instead, when you say I will do xyz, that is a completely different level of commitment. I will try equals no commitment. I will equals high commitment. Do you want to feel more confident? Like, raise your hand. If you want to feel more confident, listen to me now.
Jenny Peterson:Confidence is a result of doing what we say we are going to do. Did you know that the fastest way to build confidence in any area of your life is to do and keep the commitments that you make to yourself? If you say you're going to do something, do it. Stop using the word try. I freaking hate that word. It's garbage. Truth be told, when someone tells me that they will try, I already know their commitment level. I know that they are not committed and I actually tell myself they're not going to do it. Try is a lie. I feel like when somebody tells me that they're going to try to do something, they're actually lying to me. Throw the word try in the garbage can where it belongs.
Jenny Peterson:Let me give you an example. When I tell myself I will go live today, and then I actually go live, my confidence grows. I can trust. When I say I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it. On the flip side, if I tell myself I will try to go live sometime today and then I don't go live, I actually lose trust with myself as a result of not doing what I said I was going to do, I lose confidence in myself.
Jenny Peterson:True confidence doesn't come from the car you drive, the bag you carry or the brands you wear. True confidence comes from within. Confidence is an inner game. We build confidence when we do what we say we're going to do. The fastest way to become more confident is by keeping the promises that we make to ourselves. So here's today's assignment let's build our confidence muscles together. Keep the promises that you make to yourself and you're going to watch your confidence soar. I promise you start today, start right now. Tell me one thing, and it can be anything at all, that you will do today and then, freaking do it. Come back inside this group and tell everyone I did it, done.
Jenny Peterson:I keep the promises I make to myself. I am a woman of my word. I do what I say I'm going to do, no matter what. Practice doing one thing you say you're going to do every single day for a week and I promise you you will feel so much more confident about yourself and it feels so freaking good. Here's a couple of my favorite daily affirmations. Which one are you stealing and which is your fave, that I didn't list below. I keep the promises that I make to myself. I am a woman of my word. I do what I say. I'm going to do, no matter what. I was born to do something great. Today I will show up for myself. Today I will make myself proud. Today is full of possibilities. Today is a new day to take inspired action. Today I will do one thing that scares me. I am getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. Today, I will leap outside of my comfort zone. Do it scared. Do something today. Tomorrow you will thank you, for I am in charge of my own happiness. Today is a gift from God and I will not waste it. My authenticity is my superpower. My greatest strength comes from being my true, authentic self. Today, I will get out of my own way. I will not care what other people think. I will not allow fear to hold me back from becoming the woman God designed me to become. I acknowledge I can't do everything today, but I can take one small step that will get me closer to living the life of my dreams. I am enough for God, therefore. I am enough. What I do today matters. Today is the day for change, and change starts with me. Change starts the moment I decide I have the power to change my story. I am the co-creator of my life with God. With God, nothing is impossible. Every day, I'm making my dreams a reality. I am meant for more. I feel it and I know it. I am capable of accomplishing anything I put my mind to. I do what I love and I love what I do. There you have it. That was my post. All from one three letter word, try. I challenge you to eliminate try from your vocabulary as well. I'm gonna give you the same challenge that I gave to my affiliates. I challenge you to pick one thing today that you are going to do before you lay your head on your bed tonight to go to sleep. This thing will have gotten done. What's the one thing that you are going to do today, no matter what? Then do it and let me know about it. Over on Instagram. You can tag me in your stories at Jenny underscore Peterson. I would love to see what you are committing to do today and I would love to cheer you on as you do it. This is how we build confidence.
