Ever wondered why certain self-help techniques just don't stick for you? Let me, Jenny Peterson, guide you through a revolutionary approach to affirmations that will finally make sense to your skeptical mind. No more trying to convince yourself of statements that feel outright false—instead, I'm offering a game-changing twist that promises to align your self-talk with your deepest aspirations. Thanks to a brilliant insight from Catherine Zekita of the Manifestation Babe podcast, we're going beyond the traditional "I am rich" to a practice that your brain can actually embrace.

During our time together, we're going to unpack the profound impact of two simple words: "I am." I'll show you how to reconstruct affirmations in a way that resonates authentically with who you are and who you aim to become. Whether you're targeting financial abundance, professional success, or the cultivation of a new positive habit, this episode is your invitation to a world where daily affirmations aren't just a routine, but a transformative conversation with oneself. So, grab your journal and join me on this empowering journey to reshape our identities and redefine our realities.

Speaker 1:

Well, hello there, my beautiful friend. Welcome back to another episode. I'm Jenny Peterson. Today, we're going to be talking about affirmations. Now hold up.

Speaker 1:

I feel like there's two types of people People who love affirmations and people who hate affirmations. And if you are the latter, you're definitely going to want to stay tuned, because I have a hack for you, an exercise that, if you struggle with affirmations like, if you're like, how can I say I am rich when I am clearly not rich and my brain rejects the affirmation, this exercise works. I love affirmations. I definitely have practiced affirmations and I really do believe that they have the ability to change our thoughts, reprogram our mind, which, in turn, shifts our identity, and I used to post affirmations on my Instagram account. I'm thinking about doing it again because I still do affirmations. If that's something you want me to share, you've got to DM me on Instagram at Jenny underscore Peterson. I know I have a highlight that shares some of my favorite affirmations, but these are from a couple of years ago, so if you want to know what I'm currently doing, let me know Two little words.

Speaker 1:

I am are the most powerful words in our language, and what we say after I am matters. And yes, affirmations, positive affirmations, are important to practice, but even paying attention to what you're telling yourself on a daily basis is so important because when you are talking to yourself, guess what? You are listening. Just the other day, I was talking to one of my affiliates and she's incredible, she's literally a legend and she said I am not a good salesperson. And I was like, oh my gosh, if I ever hear anybody say something negative, I will jump on you. Okay, I'm like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold up. You did not just say that. Take it back, because if you say I am not good at sales, nobody wants to buy from me. Guess what? Nobody will buy from you and you will never become good at sales. Your words are your wand. Your words are your wand. I even started telling this quote to my children because our words are so important. Our words literally have the power to create our reality. This comes from a quote from Florence Scoville Shin. Your word is your wand. The words you speak create your own destiny. Isn't that powerful? Oh, that quote gives me chills.

Speaker 1:

Okay, let's get into the hack, the exercise that is going to help you fall in love with affirmations and it's going to help your brain to accept the affirmation and not immediately reject it. So, instead of saying affirmations like I am confident, I am rich, I am successful, I'm a multimillionaire, and your brain immediately goes, uh, no, you're not. Try this instead. And I have to give credit where credit is due. I got this idea from Catherine Zekita I hope I said her last name right. She is the host of the manifestation babe podcast and this idea came from her.

Speaker 1:

So, instead of saying I am and then fill in the blank, try saying I am the type of person who, and then fill in the blank, literally grab a journal and start writing I am the type of person who and you're going to write down anything that you want to feel, experience, become, do manifest or attract. So here's a couple of examples Instead of saying something like I am rich, try saying I am the type of person that attracts money like a magnet, or I am the type of person who attracts $10,000 a month. Think about what do you want? What are your desires? Who do you want to become? If you want to drive a certain type of vehicle, try saying I'm the type of person who drives a Corvette, a Lamborghini, a G wagon. Honestly, I don't know very much about vehicles, so whatever type of vehicle is important to you, I am the type of person who lives in fill-in-the-blank a 10,000 square foot house. Maybe there's a certain neighborhood you want to live in, maybe you want to live in a different country fill-in-the-blank what you want.

Speaker 1:

Especially if you're trying to get into the practice of doing daily affirmations. I am the type of person who practices daily affirmations. I am the type of person who journals every day. I am the type of person who practices gratitude every day. I am the type of person who is strengthening my relationship with God through prayer and scripture study every single day. I am the type of person who trusts in God's plan and in His timing.

Speaker 1:

Instead of saying I am consistent, try saying I am the type of person who shows up for myself, my family, my business and my God every single day, especially on the days that I don't feel like it, because I know everything I want is on the other side of I don't feel like it. Instead of saying I have a six figure or I have a seven figure or I have an eight figure business, try saying something that will help your business grow, like I am the type of person who attracts top influencers and affiliates to my business like a magnet. Ooh, I love this next one. Instead of saying I am generous, try saying I am the type of person who is generous. I give generously to charities that I care about, tithing for my church and people who I love, because I know no matter how much money I give away, it will always come back to me. I could go on and on and on. Those are just a couple of examples, but the reason why I love this exercise is because it really helps your brain to accept the affirmation and not immediately reject it. When you start practicing these daily affirmations consistently, it's going to change the way you think, it's going to change your thoughts, that's going to change your beliefs, that's going to change your actions and you're actually going to start feeling like the person who fill in the blank, vibrating like the person who and becoming like the person who you are describing in your affirmations.

Speaker 1:

I have heard so many successful people say change your mind, change your life. One quote that I love is from Nisam Amman change your mind, change your life. Your reality will have no choice but to follow you. Success, my friend, really does start between your ears. It starts with your thoughts. Don't just take my word for it. Here's a quote from Gandhi your beliefs become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions. Your actions become your habits. Your habits become your values. Your values become your destiny. To summarize Gandhi your beliefs become your destiny. Guess what? You and I? We are in control of our beliefs. We're in control of our thoughts, our words and our actions. We are in control of our destinies Today, start paying attention to what you are thinking and what you are saying to yourself, because our words have power.

Speaker 1:

They have power to create. Your word is your wand, and if this episode resonated with you, I would love it. If you tag me over on Instagram, tell me what your new affirmation is. I am the type of person who and tag me. I would love to see it. And let me know also if you want me to share my current affirmations that I am using today. Affirmations really do work. It really is a way to change our thoughts, which, in turn, changes our reality.
